Yarn Ball is a puzzle game where you are a ball of yarn trying to get out of a dark maze. You can travel by hooking onto pins scattered throughout the map and with every step, you run out of string.
The game mechanic was based on the Greek myth of the Labyrinth, which was built to trap the Minotaur. The only way to navigate it was a magic ball of yarn.
The game was built over a weekend at the 2013 Global Game Jam. The theme that year was "Carpe Diem" and I was intrigued by the idea of a game where you use up your life to progress.
In retrospect, Processing was a terrible choice for developing the game. It had no level editing capabilities so we spent a while writing code to process arrays into a map. People can't easily play it and I have not been able to boot it up again since the version of Processing we used was deprecated.
